New Bike Bling...

A Year...

Well its been a year, a year of contract, a year of work, a year of paycheck, a year of ridding to work.

What I have learned in a year.

1) Never, ever, try to tie your shoes while sitting on a bike, and putting the offending foot up on the back of a park bench. This would be a sound idea, if, and only if you un-clip your off side foot. This is a sure fire way to fall over.

2) Some bugs taste, well not so bad when eaten on a bike.

3) Some other bugs, taste really, really, bad.

4) Riding while it is snowing can be quite fun, ridding while there is ice on the road is quite "sporty"

5) You can never have to many of the following in your bike bag:
-A spare, spare tire
-Patches
-Either an extra CO2, or a hand pump
-Spare change of clothing, or at the very least, extra underwear
-Snacks

6) Ridding past motorist that are stuck in traffic on a beautiful day is about as good as my work day gets.

7) Beer after any bike ride, is always a good beverage.

8) Never under any circumstance ride thought a section of bike path with goose poop on it with your mouth closed.

9) Notes on squirrels:
-They can run at about 15mph over short distances.
-They do not react well under pressure, always expect them to dart, scamper, or otherwise move in some squirrel like way towards you at that last critical moment before you pass them.
-Squirrels teach all rabbits on the proper technique for dismounting a cyclist, its just rabbits get more practice. (See darting/scampering note above)
-Ground hogs are HUDE up close, and have lots of teeth, but they move nothing like squirrels.

10) Although I will admit that A&D ointment and Toothpaste both come in the same type of squeeze tube, one should always, always confirm which one is applied to ones toothbrush BEFORE putting said toothbrush in ones mouth and giving it a good healthy scrub around the mouth. (For anyone wondering what A&D ointment tastes like, it tastes EXACTLY like it smells. As a public service announcement, if you ever find your self the position of having A&D ointment in your mouth, it takes no less then three cups of coffee, a banana and a brownie to remove that baby bottoms like flavor.)

New Bike Bling...

So after a year of ridding I have killed some hardware, so last night by the grace of my loving mother I got a new paid of shoes, cleats and helmet.

Shoes...

I give you the Shimano SH-MT32, the replacement of the Shimano SH-MT31. Seems that it is policy at the Shimano corporation to replace ever bike shoe ever year with a new and better version. I will also note that the new and better version costs about $20 extra. Today was day one with the new shoes, and all I have to say is WOW. New shoes, It is hard to believe that amount of break in that happens to a pair of shoes over the course of the year. By comparison to my old pair, this new pair is like peddling with a 2x4 tied to my foot, very stiff, very nice, and very not broken in. So far I am still very happy. I need to go back to the shop tonight, they were nice enough to put my cleats on the bottom for me last night, but they ran them on with the long screws. This morning I could feel the screws biting into the bottom of my foot like a little stainless steel vampire.

Helmet...

A new brain bucket was also in order, and luckily enough the same helmet I have had for the past year, is still available. What can I say, it has kept my head in for a hole year, lets try for one more shall we. Just a plane jane Giro Atlas II in black. In my option a helmet should only come in two three colors, Black, Black and Red, and Black and Yellow.

Suffering... Late..

Rain + Waking up late = Pain

This is the equation I came up with today, I feel its about as accurate as 2+2=5 for extremely large values of 2.

I rolled out of bed today a bit late, well lets put that into perspective. My alarm goes off at 6:30am, I tend to get a few min of extreme anger at it before I have to move my very warm and lovie cat and go off to do thous things that have to be done first thing in the morning.

Typically I'm at my new parking spot at about 7:15 for a 35 - 45 min ride with an average of 11 to 12 mph over 7.8 miles

Today I got to my parking spot at 8:06, oh yea taking late to a hole new definition. Now luckily enough I work in an office where my being late does not really matter, but still, I DON'T LIKE IT.

So off I go with wild abandement and legs of fire... or should I say legs on fire. When I say I pushed it, I had the hammer down the hole way.

7.8 miles, in 28 minnuets.

Doing the math, and checking the cycle computer: 16.7 MPH average.

Wow the ride home tonight is going to S U C K!

Oh yea did I mention the weather.

I'm in Harrisburg, the little speck in the middle of the map.

Come on weekend...

What a week...

Well the week is almost over. Whewwww!

My legs are tired, and my butt is sore in about the saddle regions but over all it was a good week.

Number for today:

GPS.
Moving Time: 35:40
Moving Avg: 13.2
Stopped: 4:27
Max speed: 30.5
Trip: 7.83
Total Ascent: 136 Feet
Total Descent: 248 Feet

Cycle Comp.
Time: 35:17
Avg: 13.2
Max: 31.0
Trip: 7.8

By the end of today I will have ridden 66.98 miles this week. I can definitely feel that I'm putting in more miles as well as much more elevation change.

New Tires...

My new tires arrived last night, god I love my Amazon Prime account. All the fun of shopping online, no shipping costs and 2 day shipping.

After I got back to the house last night I enjoyed a very nice Troegs, Nugget Nector and sat out on my front porch and put the new tires on.

The tires I went with are the Avenir Streetster Tires 26 x 2.0. They are smooth with a extremely low rolling resistance. They were a monumental pain in the but to get on. But from what I have learned by reading online reviews the side walls are slow to cut from "hefty" riders. Seeing that has been a problem in the past I'm hoping that this will help to elevate the problem. They also have a Kevlar belt running under the tread to help elevate flats. All this for $19.00 each.

www.mtbr.com
has no review for the product yet, guess I'm a trend setter.

Green Geek item of the day...

Allow me to start off by saying I want one of these. It is the NatureMill in Home Composter. I know what your thinking "Ewwww but the smell" well forget that, this thing is smell free. They range in price from $250 to $400. They also have a pet waist version.

Pet of the Day...

Now this is a problem I fully understand. Its amazing how little bed space you can end up with when you have pets in the house.

Why Helmets Don't Suck...

Kudo points on not only landing on his butt, but also getting the hand up for the "I'm OK wave" which is different from the "I need medical assistance" and the "That heart so much I don't know my own name" waves.

A hole new sore...

Wonderful web...

So the web has given us some data over the past 20 years. But one web page has come to my attention as being almost indispensable to the commuting cyclist. If your like me and tend to find out what the ride home is going to be like by sticking your head out your office window, this site may help your and your co-workers comfort levels. Just plug in your zip code.

New Ride...

Wow, that was harder then I thought it was going to be.

Over the past two weeks I have been riding fairly short rides 8 to 10 miles round trip per day. I was feeling good, really good, fast, agile all things not fat.

This has been my ride for the past two weeks.

This ride is safe, easy and best of all, I can sleep in a bit and still make it to work just fine.

This is the new ride.Still very safe, not easy, and about twice the time on the way into to work.

The Green path is what I drive to my parking area (Giant Parking lot). So the questions may be, why do I drive, and not ride that short distance. Well, I hate a hill between my house and the parking area. I really hate it on the way into work, but it sucks HUDGE on the way home.

So today was the first time this spring I made the longer ride. My back side is sore, and my legs felts like they were going to fall off by the time I got to the car. But as they say, pain is weakness leaving the body. I must be very week, it was a lot of fun to be able to be on the bike for a much longer time, I'm sure there will be time in the upcoming weeks when I will want to slash my tires, but this is for the betterment of me and I'm excited about it.

Numbers of the Day:

According to my Cycle Computer.
Time: 40:25
Avg: 11.4
Max: 37.7
Trp: 7.7

According to my GPS.

Moving time: 40.30
Stopped: 2.22
Over all Avg: 10.6
Odo 7.59 miles

Geeky item of the Day...

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the ThinkGeek Annoy-a-tron.

This comes to us from one of my favorite sites, ThinkGeek.com where you can get such wonderful thinks like the One up mushroom t-shirt and the R2 fish training school kit. Today I would like to talk about the Annoy-a-Tron. This wonderful little device has crumbled the mind of two of my coworkers, go to the above link and read the letter ThinkGeek received.

So what does it do, it emits a random tone, at a random interval... All day...... They also have a new version that emits a buzzing sound. You know something like a cell phone on silent.

Pet of the Day...

I try to stay away from all the pet pictures with intentionally incorrect English, but this was funny.

Why Helmets don't suck...

I have three words, CRAP!!!! all of them.

Sgt. Pezzer's Epic Fail...

I would like to point out a where these two "men" went wrong.

A) WTF are they wearing?
B) SNOW! No pants, SNOW!
C) Crazy Person 1 (CP1) is standing on ICE, Crazy Person 2 (CP2) is diving into what they believe is water. CP2 really should have looked at CP1 prior to attempting to dive into a sheet of ICE.
D) What is CP2 wearing under their "toto" is it?
E) I'm not sure how much alcohol it took to get these "men" out here but for CP2 is about to not be enough.

There is a part of me that would really like to see how this turned out.

Sense of Humor?

Do you have one?

Have you used it lately?

Did it heart when you used it?

I like to think I'm a funny person, in fact most of the time when I laughing I'm laughing at myself. Today was one of those days. The last 24 hours have been rather crappy, job offer rejection, finical stress, and just over all me making a few bad decisions. After getting all that under the bridge and starting to put together a plan of action. I was ready to move on and get back to living life rather than planning how to live it.

What does that mean? LET’S RIDE!!!!

I have found that once my legs start to heart, and the sweat start rolling I forget all the things that give me "more" gray hair, and start just thinking about what I'm doing. Where I'm riding and what my next step is.

For some reason, this Zen like state is always accompanied with the amazement that they are my feet going round and round on the peddles. For whatever reason I get great joy out of watching my feet go around in circles.

Today while ridding into work, I was in one of those moments. Allow me to paint the picture.

  • 7:45am, Harrisburg PA
  • It rained all night, and the world looks clean, wet and slick.
  • The water is rolling off my front tire and streaming up in the air, then bending from a slight breeze.
  • My legs feel really, really good today, I'm averaging 15-18mph on the flats
  • It’s 50 degrees out and I'm wearing the exact right amount of clothes.
  • Stevie Ray Vaughan Pride and Joy is on the MP3 player

Its time like this that makes me get out of bed to go ride.

Then it all came crashing down...

It seems that god has a sense of humor as well, because he took all the water in the world and had it fall on me for about 15 min. It was raining so hard I could not see. I’m not talking I was having problems seeing, I’m talking if I rolled forward enough water was getting in my eyes I think I was a fish.

After rolling to an over pass, I parked there for about 20 min till the Harrisburg monsoon season passed me by and just started laughing. I was laughing at myself, but because of all the others that were getting caught out in the rain.

I was laughing because I just did not care.

You see here were all these people running and scampering to get out of the rain, trying to keep their suits and ties dry and all looking at me like I was nuts.

I realised that I did not care that I was soaking wet, I did not case that everything in my bag was probably wet at this point. I did not care, because IT does not matter.

In the grand scheme of things, getting poured on in the rain does not matter.

So while everyone else was huddling for cover, I took god up on his offer and went out and played in the rain.

By the time I got to work, I was in that wonderful I am a kid and just played in mud puddle state of mind.

Walking past my co-workers dripping wet, I looked them all in the eyes and said “Good morning” With a smile and a bounce in my step.

After getting to my desk, some of my staff started coming in and I asked if anyone got the message about it being “Extreme Casual Friday”

It’s going to be a good day.

Till the cows come home...

Ride to work...

OUCH!!!

Ok, it was fun, but wow did the wind on river front suck today. I was peddling for all I was worth and could get up to a whopping 8mph.

Squirrel racing...

Squirrel can run at about 13.5 mph for some time. On the ride home Friday after work I was racing a Squirrel. Now I'm not really sure why the little guy ran by 5 trees before going up one. My only guess is that the one he/she went up was home. But for the 50 or so yards of river front park that we were side by side on he was going at about 13.5mph. I'm not so sure I would call it run or I would call it flying, they don't touch the ground very much when the run.

Pet of the Day...

I would have loved to seen how this played out.

Why Helmets don't Suck...

Remember boys and girls, always, always verify the depth of a water crossing PRIOR to making your entry.

Sgt. Pezzers Epic Fail...

HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE!!!!! I'm not sure how the hell they pulled this off, but I'm sure it was really, really hard to do.

A new ride...

What is a new bike...

Steal, Aluminum, Cro-moly, Carbon Fiber, all of the above. No, its hope. Hope that you will be able to climb that hill just a little bit faster on this bike. Or hope that you will get out and ride more often then you did on the old one. Its hope that this one will not break after 6 months. Its hope that you will loss weight, get in shape, be faster, better, jump higher, ride longer and all around be a "bikeyer" person.

Its a hope that you will not look like you do in 3, 6, 8 months from now.

Sadly this is not always the case, most new bike come home and only come out on a rare weekend ride with the family or to go to the beach as a car ornament.

I believe the problem here is a full on lack of understanding of what owning a bike means.

It means PAIN, in many different ways.

Legs, back, BUTT, arms, feet, lungs. There have been climbs where I wanted to roll into traffic to get the burning in my legs to stop.

Wallet, holy crap can stuff get expensive, I took a few min just to calculated up the things that I can remember getting.

Gary Fisher "Marlin" Mk I - $600
Egg Beater Peddles - $60
Helmet - $40
Shorts - $40
Shoes - $100
Gloves - $20
Computer - $40
Flat tire kit - $20
Hydration - $30
Tires - $80
Tubes - $30
Replacement Crank - $300
Replacement Chain Ring - $65
Replacement Chain - $30
F. Derauler - $60

Gary Fisher "Marlin" Mk II (Replacement Frame) - $free
Parts transfer - $200
New wheals x2 - $200
New tires - $60
HID light - $100
Shoes - $100
Helmet - $60
Painers - $45
Backpack - $85
Gloves - $35
Socks - $100
Cold Weather Gear - $100

Surly Instigator MK I - (Replacement Frame for GF MK II)
Frame Save - $40
Cables, housing and setup - $100

Grand Total - $2740 I'm going to guess that you can add about 6% to that for purchases I have forgotten.

PAIN.

If you ride a bike you are going to;

1)-Be in pain
2)-Break something expensive
3)-Feel better
4)-Loss weight
5)-Increase heart health
6)-Start looking at bike racks and bikes on cars differently
7)-Notice trails, bike paths and wide berms

8)-Have about the same amount of fun you did when you were a kid.

I'm now thinking that I should have not posted that dollar amount, when the wife reads this she is going to want some new camera equipment.

Pet of the Day...

Why Helmets Don't Suck...

In the biking world this is called "Tacoing"

Meaning your wheal now looks like a Taco, and so would your head with out that helmet.

All Hail Saint Patrick...

Today is one of my favorite days, the patron Saint of Ireland...

Captured by Irish raiders and taking from his native Wales as a slave to Ireland, where he lived for six years before escaping and returning to his family.

After entering the church, he latter returned to Ireland as a missionary in the north and wst of the island.

In his own words from his declaration letter,

I saw a man coming, as it were from Ireland. His name was Victoricus, and he carried many letter, and he game me one of them. I red the Heading: "The Voice of the Irish". As I began the letter, I imagined in that a moment that I heard the voice of those very people who were near the wood of Foclut, which is beside the western sea-and they cired out, as with one voice: "We appeal to you, holy servant boy, to come and walk amoung us".

While people all over the world will visit the church today and pay their repecets to St. Patrick, most of my american breathren will be hoisting cornbeef and cabbage and drinking creen beer.

I love this contry.

I am Job...

Its Saint Patrick Day, and I have a job tomarrow, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

From the ashes of the Fisher, risese a Surly and its a BEAST...

Well all is said and done at this time, we got all the parts from the fisher fitted over and set up on the new Surly. WOW is this bike fun, its just makes you want to hop a curb, hit the dirt and do things that are just fullish.

I will post up some picturues of the new ride when I get the chance, there are a few new set up items worth taking a look at.

Stage 4...

The Next Step...

Well my frame is not back yet, but when it gets here it has to spend a few days at the shop for a few coats of frame saver.

I will admit that I am really, really, missing my bike, I want to ride.

While we have a little down time...

We are taking some time to make me a bit safer.

This ankle strap will have all of my contact information, who I am, who to call if something happens to me and most of all, on the bottom of the strap.

NEVER GIVE UP!!!!!!

But the devout can craft BEER!!!

Your car smells...

It smells like a moco save-ay... wow the jokes around here, read on soon it will make sence to you too.

Experts say that 5-7kg of used coffee grounds can produce one liter of biofuel at a production cost of about $1 dollar a gallon. If Starbucks figures out that they can make the world smell like their coffee two they are going to be biger then Costco.

What kid would not want to try this...

Hell what adult for that matter.

One letter at a time...

Wow, you know things are bad when you can't even keep you sign on any more. (would have been a nice hack)

Pet of the Day...

I try to stay away from all pictures of pets with captions. Especially all captions that are written in that cute "pet" language that always ends in SSSSSS. I have news for you, my cat does not understand English, if it did, it would not get on the table. While I do not think that poor sentance structure makes this picture cute, there is something about cat in a PC case that I just cant seem to pull my self away from.

Stage 3...

Time...

Now that I have some non-ridding time on my hands I have decided to clean everything that gets bolted onto the bike.

Last night I wipped down my front derailleur while watching a hockey game. Its strange seeing it that clean.

So this brings on the question.

Clean the chain, and if so, what is your method. or replace.

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Stage 2...

Yesterday...

First - My local LBS...

I walked in holding my new-broken frame and they all looked at me and said.
"NOOO!!!!, you did not break another one?"

Well after talking it over with them, they spun off the BB for me and knocked out the headsets.

Second - My other local LBS (MFG LBS)...

After walking in and talking to Steve, very nice guy, we came up with three options.

1) Will the LBS buy the replacement frame that Trek will be sending back to me?

2) Can I ask for a "beefier" frame rather then one with Carbon chain stays?

3) What is the retail of the replacement frame? So I can sell it, and buy something I'm not going to kill.

Basically, I loved my fisher, but I'm not willing to be changing frames every six months. So Steve (MFG LBS) asked me what frame I was looking at getting. After talking it over, he said that they may be able to get me my "wish" frame instead of the standard Fisher replacement.

So I left the bike shop slightly amazed by the level of customer service I just encountered, and not in the usual way. Ya know when you are shocked by the lack of service, this time it was shocked by the HIGH level of "Lets try to take care of the customer" service.

Next Day...

Today I received a call from the bike shop (The MFG one) they are going to be able to replace the frame under the warranty. But this time not for the same Fisher replacement frame, but this time for.

Dan, dant, dan...........

Meet the INSTIGATOR!!!!

The Surly Instigator:

Allow me to pull a line from their site that sums this frame up.

"If you ride big or are simply a big rider and break just about everything you throw your leg over you'll appreciate this level of stoutness"

Now I don't want to say anything, but I'm thinking I need a stout frame.

Specs:

Tubing: 100% Surly 4130 CroMoly Steal.
Rear Dropouts: 4131 Steal, cut from a solid block of steal.
Brake Compat: IS Disc or Cant. (Cant. bosses are removable)
Braze-ons: Dual Bottle, Down tube shit, guides for Hydro or solid housing, ICGS chainguide mount.
Seatpost Diameter: 29.4mm (HUDGE)
Downtube: 1.5" (also HUDGE)

Also stright from the Surly Web site:

As one reviewer said "this bike encourages you to be a hooligan"

Well its suposed to be here in about a week, after getting here it will be visiting the bike shop for about 48 hours for 3-4 coats of frame saver. After that its bike building time in the basement. I'm so excited!!!!!!

Monday, March 2, 2009

Killing me...

Well your not going to believe this.

My frame broke, again...

Same place as last time, right above the BB on the right hand side.

My friend, Joe H. gave me a BB5 and a BB7 that he was not using any more. After installing them I decided to degrease my drive chain and give the bike a wipe down to get some of the road grime off it. While cleaning up the bottom bracket I saw a hair line crack on the right hand side right above the weld.

CRAP!!!!!!!

Interestingly enough, I can strip a bike down to headset and bottom bracket in about 15min.

Back to the shop I go, this one only has about 500 miles on it.

In a word.

GERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

I'll be posting pictures up shortly.

Goose/Geese Flop...

A word to the wise...

CLOSE YOU'RE MOUTH!

This sounds like such a simple statement. Lets discuss the facts.

Needed:
1) A Goose, or better yet all the Geese in your state.
2) Food for Goose or Geese.
3) Bike path in Harrisburg where said Goose/Geese like to poop.
4) Bike Commuter - This part will be played by yours truly.
5) A bike. (It really is quite difficult to commute by bike with out said bike)

Allow me to paint you a picture, something in a nice neon goose poop green.

I don't feel well today, sore throat, sinus pressure all over feeling like it would be a good day for
a triple shot of "Nighttime, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head, fever, don't operate heavy machinery, take your ass back to bed and try again medicine" But, alas I could not take the day off, things to do, meeting to attend. I could also not drive to work, no money in the family budget for parking. You know what that means, dressed up like the Michelin man goes the artist out the door I went.

OK its cold here, really cold, so for the first part of the ride I am full face cover and fogging up the glasses.

On a side note: I am thinking about getting a pair of Over the Glasses Motorcycle goggles to help stem the tide of snow and rain getting into my eyes while ridding. This is the pair I am kicking around getting.

Back to the Goose poop.

So it seems that the local Goose union, Fin and Feather 408 had a meeting last evening in the middle of the bike trail as to what color of poop they are going with for the spring. Now I don't know how much poop it will take for them to figure this seemingly critical question out, but I know how much they are going to use.

The bike path looked like a poster at a Jimmy Hendrix concert. While trying to navigate this lime green mine field, my front tire caught a goose nugget and began to slide, and I spoke out loud what seemed like a very appropriate phrase at the time, "CRAP". At that very instant a part of the extremely slippery feather nugget launched from the left side of my tire and caught me square in the front teeth at about the letter A in crAp.

Well that was an interesting flavor. I am now drinking lots of coffee and for the first time in a long time a power gel tasted really good.

Moral of the story.
1)Don't leave home with out your water bottle!
2)Always, and I can't stress this enough, ALWAYS keep your month closed when in a goose poop mine field.

Ahhh, well yea, maybe they should rethink this one. So here is Microsoft did in the their infinite wisdom. As many of you know they laid off 1,00 people. Was nice about the hole thing and gave them a severance package on the way out.

Then, and get this one. They sent out a letter asking each of the Severed employees for part of IT BACK!!!!!

Now I can't read through the black outs, but that figure looks to be fairly large. I wounder if they used Vista to calculate the severance amounts?

Give a man a camcorder and...

You will get crappy moves for a year, give that camcorder to a Otter and you'll get a nice big fine.

This is so funny in so many different ways I don't know where to start.

Whats next, Beavers placing orders at Lowe's. I'm really in trouble when the cat learns how to use the computer. Cat Porn??? (So wrong)

Pet of the Day...

If my cat ever figures this out cows everywhere are in serious trouble.

Why helmets don't suck...

Let this be a lesson, Road bikes should not be used to cross streams, creaks, rivers or any other body of water larger then a puddle.

Has anyone seen my feet,...

In the words of Mr. Little Richard. "I'm COLD!!!"

I would like to recap my morning, it has been while since this has been done, and somethings have changed since then.

5:45am - Beatrix (cat) believes that this is the time she should be feed, and will stand on my chest pawing me and purring.
5:47am - With my morning massage over, I put the cat on Melissa and watch the games begin.
5:48am - Back to sleep, for that blissful last 45 min.
6:30am - BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP SMACK!!!
6:35am - BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, crash, cry, meowwwwww.,...... WTF
6:36am - After hearing something crashing down the steps, I'm up out of bed, home protection system in hand and into the hall way to find.
Maggie, and Beatrix sitting at the top to the steps, Beatrix has doubled in size due to fur fluffing out, and Ozzy at the button of the steps trapped once of Melissa's hand bags that used to be at the top of the steps. As I come around the corner both Maggie and Beatrix give me a quizzical look of "Not us" and promptly leave the scene of the crime. While I'm still tired, holding a firearm and, well only waring a pair of boxers I opted to have this conversation latter. After extracting Ozzy from the bag, and getting to enjoy scared kitten with claws trying to climb over my shoulder I decided that now might be a good time to go back up stairs.
6:38am - I turn the alarm clock off, and head to the bathroom
6:42am - Done with the morning necessities, I slide on a pair of bike shorts and a my cold weather base layers and head to the kitchen.
6:43am - Slice a muffin, cut ham, and cheese, toast muffing, heat ham and cheese, wrap everything up in a paper towel and place in a plastic bag. Grab lunch from the fridge,,,, OHHHH Salmon cakes. Place everything in the bag and head up to get finished changing.
6:50am - While trying to figure out why I don't make coffee in the morning any more, I slip on a paid of flease lined wind Resistance tights, and then a pair of nylon short. Finish out my top base layers with two more shirts, and zip up flease and a wind breaker. Its freaking cold out today so its heavy shocks with bike socks under.
6:55am - Back down stairs, put on gloves, and balaclava, go up and kiss Melissa good by for the day, and out the door I go. Looking like the Stay Puff uni-bomber.
6:56am - In the truck, WOW cold seat. and Drive to Dave's house.
7:10am - Load up the bike, hop one and off to work.
7:25am - I can't feel my feet. Did the sign at the bank says it was 10!!!!! WTH am I doing on a bike when its 10 out side.

In other news...

AV310 Wide screen...

For $249.00 you too can look like a member of sci-fi. Personal on-the-go video, its supposed to give you a virtual 52 foot screen as if you are 9-feet away. I'm really not sure why I'm so repulsed and intreagued at the same time. It might have something to do with the Male models sence of smugness, or the fact that I have NEVER seen WHITE airline seats. All of a sudden I'm getting creeped out, Did all the airlines seats start out as white at one point??? ewwwwwww

Hu?

Its a bear sleeping bag.
Anyone else want to take this one for me. I just can't bring my self to do it. No, ok then here goes.

Its a bear sleeping bag, I don't know about the rest of you, but I never, NEVER want to see a bears soft pallet from the inside. Its on my list of things to never do,

1) Jump out of a perficaly good air plane.
2) Jump out of a air plane that has at least a 75% change of getting to the ground.
3) Get eaten by bear. <---
3a) Bungee Jump.
4) Fall on a cactus naked.
5) Get a Snake bite while pooping in the woods.

Can you even imagine what might happen if your camp site was crashed by a real bear and you were wearing this???

Why hello Mr Bond...

Keep that phone away from you...

Battery truth. Heat and cold are bad. Battery University reports that if you want to keep you cell phone battery charged longer you should keep it cool. And from what they are telling us, 98.8 degrees is not COOL. So no more storing your cell phone in your underwear. And for goodness sakes take it off vibrate.
